The 1st XI's defeat at Wollaton by 8 wickets included little, if anything, to report on. However the far more important thing to note is that the team's finish in 7th place in the Nottinghamshire Premier League is their best ever. The previous highest was 8th place in the 2022 season.
Well done to skipper Josh Wilson and all the players.
The 4s game at Chetwynd Barracks against Sohani also ended in defeat by just 46 runs. The visitors scored 224 for 6 from their rain-reduced 30 overs and we replied with 178 for 1. There were though some momentous moments.
- Andy Waddle was playing his 100th game for the team and almost reached 100 wickets by taking 2 of the 6
- Carl Knight doubled the number of wickets he's taken from 1 to 2, although his bowling average got worse going from 4.0 to 4.5.
- Lakshay Sharma hit a second consecutive half century with 80 runs at better than a run a ball, hitting 5 4s and 4 6s. The opening partnership with Carl Knight was 151, the second highest made for the team.
- Carl Knight reached 72 not out - his 30th half century for the team
The 2nd XI game on Sunday against Kirkby Portland that decides the side relegated from Division A of the SNCL has been cancelled. The 6 points awarded takes the team two points higher than Keyworth who face relegation. To illustrate how tight things can be; Keyworth suffered 5 penalty points for umpiring and scoring deficiencies; while our team were penalised just 2 points for the same type of infringements.
