Games - September 7th

The 1st XI's defeat at Wollaton by 8 wickets included little, if anything, to report on.  However the far more important thing to note is that the team's finish in 7th place in the Nottinghamshire Premier League is their best ever.  The previous highest was 8th place in the 2022 season.

The 4s game at Chetwynd Barracks against Sohani also ended in defeat by just 46 runs.  The visitors scored 224 for 6 from their rain-reduced 30 overs and we replied with 178 for 1.  There were though some momentous moments.

  • Andy Waddle was playing his 100th game for the team
  • Carl Knight doubled (or maybe more than doubled) the number of wickets he's taken
  • Lakshay Sharma hit a second consecutive half century with 80 runs
  • Carl Knight reached 72 not out - his 30th half century for the team

Youngest Player to 1,000 Premier League Runs

Lucas Stentiford's 50 runs against Notts & Arnold raised his number of NPL half centuries to 6 in addition to the century he scored last year.

I've assumed he would be the youngest to reach 1,000 NPL runs but thought I should confirm it.

It is correct.  Ignoring 1st XI cup games Lucas was 20 when he passed the mark back in May this year.

All Lucas's games for the 1st team have been in the NPL which reflects the length of time we've been in the highest league rather than reverting back to the SNCL.

Zak Tribe comes in second at 22, followed by Savin Perera and Shaun Fitzgibbon both at 23.

The other players to have reached 1,000, some playing more of their 1st team games in the SNCL, are Ben Shaw, Paldip Sidhu, Tom Murray, Steve Allcoat and Alec McKinlay.

Game - September 1st

The 1st XI moved up to 7th place in the Premier League with a good win over Notts & Arnold at the Strand.

After deciding to bat first they made a very promising start and then continued to dominate until their innings closed at 255 for 8.

Angad Singh, opening the batting, hit his highest 1s score with 84; Lucas Stentiford hit his 6th Premier League half century and Matt Hill hit some stunning boundaries in recording his highest 1st team score with an unbeaten 31.  In reaching 25 Marvric Pamphile also established a new high score.

In reply Notts & Arnold regularly lost wickets before being bowled out for 205.  Skipper Josh Wilson was the main wicket taker with 3 for 41 which puts him three ahead in the 1st XI's leading wicket taker race.  Rafay Ahmed and Marvric Pamphile each claimed a couple of victims.

Games - August 31st

Not quite four defeats from four games with the 2nd XI gaining a potentially crucial losing draw that could be vital in securing their staying in Division A.

The 1st XI game at home to Hucknall started quite well with the team reaching 118 for 3 before wickets began to tumble and the side reached just 170.  The visitors then made light work of reaching their target and lost only two wickets and had almost 12 overs to spare.

The 2nd XI game at Flintham started well with a wicket taken before a run had been scored but the home side recovered well to reach a daunting 260 for 9.  Prateer Mehta, bowling for the first time for the side, starred in taking 6 of the wickets for 58 runs.  On the batting front the team were at 125 for 5 and losing looked a distinct possibility but then Richard Henson (46) and Mason Tolley (43) put on an unbroken 107 for the 6th wicket.  Tejash Naik and Oliver Trafford both scored 38 earlier in the innings.

Points awarded for the losing draw leaves the team on the same points as Keyworth with one game to play.  A slightly superior net run rate sees the team above Keyworth and out of the relegation positions - some bad weather next weekend (the 2s play on Sunday) may be seen as a good thing!

A hard game for the 3rd XI at Ellerslie with the home side hammering 324 for just 4 wickets.  A decent response on the batting front in reaching  182 with Dan Whitham, in his first game for the 3s hitting 45, and James Binnie (31), Ben Goodlass (29) and Bhavesh Panchal (16) all set new  high scores.

Dan's score of 45 also saw him record the highest score batting at 8 for the 3rd XI replacing Sam Henson and Arjun Sandhu's scores of 42.

Even though no wickets were taken in the 4ths game against Midlands who finished in second place in the league, there were some good achievements in the batting.  Three players hit new high scores for the Club's Saturday teams.  Lakshay Sharma, after playing for the 1st XI in his previous game, hit 78 with 14 4s and one 6 - thanks Lakshay for your flexibility.  William Green in only his 6th game scored his first half century with 54 and Laura Sainsbury contributed a rapid unbeaten 16.

Fixtures - August 31st & September 1st

 Saturday August 31st

Sunday September 1st

A busy weekend for the 1st XI with two games, both at The Strand, against Hucknall and Notts & Arnold.

There are also a couple of somewhat surprising, but certainly pleasing, appearances.  Marvric Pamphile plays for the 1st XI in his first game for the club since August 2022 and Richard Henson turns out for the 2nd XI in his first game since June 2022 when he also played under Sam's captaincy but for the 3rd XI.

Dan Whitham, Darren Gladden-Porter and Harry Cater will be playing their first game for the 3rd team.

Malcolm James makes his debut for the Club in the 4th team.

Good luck to all.

Games - August 24th

A secure 6 wicket win for the 1st XI against Radcliffe-on-Trent saw their wickets spread pretty evenly between our bowlers, who also managed to keep the run rate down to nothing too challenging.  Lucas Stentiford led the batting with an unbeaten 77 from 91 balls hitting 12 4s on the way.

The 2nd XI unfortunately saw the opposite result with a 6 wicket defeat to Hucknall.  After being bowled out with 5 overs left of their rain reduced 35 overs, the visitors got off to a rapid start in response and then proceeded calmly to achieve the win. Patrick Ryan (36) and Oliver Trafford (31) contributed the most to the team's 124 and Alex Lawrence picked up a couple of the wickets taken.

The 3rd XI's home game against Burton Joyce also ended in defeat.  Relying heavily on a couple of their batsmen they managed to amass 186 runs at getting on for 7 an over.  Bhavesh Panchal took 4 of the 6 wickets to fall for 34 runs from his 7 overs.  With wickets falling regularly our response never really got off the ground as we reached 85 for 9 wickets from our 28 overs.
